About the Center

Chronic dizziness. Poor balance. Hearing difficulty. Lightheadedness.

These are common symptoms of hearing and balance disorders. Hearing loss affects
an estimated 20 million Americans and ranges from minor nuisance to a profound
disability.

Vestibular disorders, which encompass dizziness and balance
problems, occur to a significant degree in about 25 million Americans. These
symptoms also may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting and a ringing or fullness
sensation in the ears.

Whether the condition is a result of a traumatic accident or a brain disease, most of these patients may experience a serious decrease in the quality of their lives

Comprehensive Treatment Under One Roof

Very few facilities in the country concentrate on comprehensive treatment
of hearing, balance and other ear disorders. Because hearing and balance
disorders are common complaints at all ages - often striking during the most
productive years of life - AUH Allegheny General recognizes the need for
collaborative treatment under one roof . And for those affected, we have good
news. Advanced medical treatment is available and, in most cases, patient's
function may be restored.

At Allegheny General's Hearing and Balance Center, we
think the best way to improve hearing and balance is through coordinated care.
That means talking to one another and working in teams so that every dimension
of a patient's problem can be monitored and effectively treated.
