Appointments:
Working by appointment enables us to allocate our time effectively and to see patients without long waits. We value your time and will do our very best to see you right on schedule. Emergencies or other unexpected situations do cause occasional delays and we appreciate your understanding if you need to wait to be seen. Whether you are a new or current patient, please plan to call for an elective appointment one to two weeks in advance of the time you would like to be seen. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please let us know as soon as you can, preferably 48 hours in advance. Your courtesy allows us to schedule an appointment for another patient who requires immediate care.
All office locations: (412) 321-2480
Emergencies:
In case of an emergency or an urgent problem during business hours, call our office at (412) 321-2480 and you will be seen promptly. By calling the office before coming in, you enable us to prepare for your visit and provide any interim instructions you may need. If an emergency occurs at a time when our office is not open, please call Allegheny General Hospital at (412) 359-3131 to have the doctor paged.
Prescription Refills:
To request a prescription refill, please call during office hours so we will have access to your medical chart. Please have the phone number of your pharmacy on hand when you call our main office at (412) 321-2480, Option #2.
If you have to leave a message please provide us with the complete spelling of your first and last name as well as your date of birth and a telephone number where you can be reached.
Current Medications:
It is very important that you come to your first appointment prepared to list any medications that you are taking or have recently taken. You may want to make a list at home and bring it with you. Please include the dosage and frequency information for all your medications. If you are unsure of any of this information, bring the bottles with you to your appointment and we will identify them for you.
Surgery & Hospitalization:
If surgery or hospitalization will be part of your care, it will be arranged for you at Allegheny General Hospital or Mercy Hospital. If you are scheduled for ear surgery, the benefits and risks associated with your procedure will be explained to you. You will also receive specific information regarding hospital admission procedures and post-operative care.
Insurance & Billing:
Our office participates in Medicare, Blue Shield and most managed care organizations. Under your plan of coverage, you may be responsible for yearly deductibles or co-insurance payments. If you are enrolled in a managed care program (HMO), you may need to contact your primary care physician for a referral prior to your appointment. Contact your insurance company regarding reimbursement policies. Any unpaid balance remains your responsibility. Please bring your insurance cards to our office on the day of your first visit and keep us updated regarding any coverage changes.
For all billing inquiries, call (412) 359-3461.
Fees:
Our fees are within the customary range for our specialty and reflect the level of care that you receive. During your first visit, additional testing may be necessary to diagnose your problem. Co-payment is due at the time of your visit. If you are scheduling surgery and have a high deductible plan, arrangements will be made for payment prior to your surgical date.
No Smoking:
As of September 1, 1991, Allegheny General Hospital is a smoke free facility. Smoking is not permitted in our Monroeville or Wexford locations.
